CITIES INTRODUCTION - Foshan

Most people would think of Kung Fu when mentioning Foshan. The city has earned its stellar reputation of being the hometown of Martial Arts, Pottery, and Chinese Opera. It is the main birthplace of the southern school of Chinese martial arts. Prominent martial arts masters such as Huang Feihong, Ip Man, and Bruce Lee were either descendant or started their wushu learning journey here in Foshan.

Located at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area hinterland, Foshan is an integral part of the 'Guangzhou-Foshan Metropolis Circle' and 'Pearl River-Xijiang Economic Belt.' As the national advanced manufacturing base and a crucial manufacturing centre of Guangdong, Foshan vigorously promotes manufacturing transformation and upgrading. It ranked first for four consecutive years in the Guangdong Province for total investment in the completion of industrial technology transformation. In recent years, Foshan proactively supports innovation and entrepreneurship for young people in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Related details are listed in 'Implementation Measures for Setting Up Start-Up Incubation Bases for Hong Kong and Macao Youths in Foshan' issued in June 2019.

Please also refer to 'Foshan Municipal Government (in Chinese only)'  for Foshan's key efforts in promoting Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
